What is included in the home?
All of our properties come fully furnished with the essentials: linens, towels, kitchenware, toiletries and high-speed Wi-Fi. Many also include extras like hot tubs, game rooms or EV chargers.
Which homes have pools, and are the pools heated?
Eight of our eleven Outer Banks homes have a private pool, and every home has a hot tub. Four pools can be heated: Baydream Believer, Hygge on the Bay and Salt & Lighthouse in Corolla, and Duck Blind in Duck. The pools at Harbor View, Soundside Serenity, Spectacular Sunset and Heron Landing are unheated. Hygge By The Sea, King Tide Rising and Pescadora have a hot tub but no pool.
Does it cost extra to heat the pool?
Yes. Pool heating is $125 per day plus tax, added for the full length of your stay, and we need at least five days’ notice before arrival so the pool is warm when you walk in. The heater needs outdoor temperatures in the 50s or above to work, so it is most useful in spring and fall. Hot tubs are always heated and included.
Are the pools open in winter?
Outer Banks pools are seasonal. They typically open in late March or early April and close at the end of October, weather permitting, and are winterized outside that window. Exact dates shift a little each year, so message us and we will confirm for your dates. Hot tubs stay open year-round.
My card was declined. What should I do?
Nine times out of ten it is your bank, not the card: a large out-of-state charge trips a fraud hold. Call the number on the back of your card, approve the charge, then try again. Also check that the billing ZIP matches the card and that the amount is within your daily limit. If it still will not go through, text or call us at (949) 407-7448 and we will send a secure payment link so you can finish the booking.
I am trying to book online but keep getting an error.
First, refresh the page or try another browser, and check that your dates meet the home’s minimum stay (many Outer Banks homes are Saturday-to-Saturday in summer) and that your guest count is within its maximum. If the error persists, text or call us at (949) 407-7448 or email support@ratherbeproperties.com with the home and your dates and we will get you booked.

How do I get the address and check-in details?
Once your booking is confirmed we send detailed check-in instructions by email or through the platform you booked on, including the address, access codes and local tips.
