Four of our five Indio homes have a private pool: Coachella Sol Haus, The Game Table Getaway, Coachella Casa and Indio Oasis House. The fifth, Indio Oasis Casita, does not — and we will be plain about that below rather than quietly leaving it out.
The harder question, and the one we get asked most, is whether to pay for optional pool heating. We are Al and Elissa, and we have stood in every one of these backyards. Here is what we actually tell people.
Which Indio vacation rentals have a private pool?
Coachella Sol Haus — pool, hot tub, fire pit, covered patio
Six bedrooms, sleeps 12, rated 5.0 across 94 reviews. The backyard is the whole point: a pool that can be heated, a hot tub, a fire pit and a covered patio, which matters more in Indio than people expect. Inside there is a chef’s kitchen and a loft with an 85-inch TV.
A bachelorette group of 12 told us the beds and hangout space worked for all of them — the upstairs couch practically fit all of them for a movie night. They also chose not to heat the pool, and found it pretty chilly, but refreshing with 95-plus degree days. Read that twice. It is the most useful sentence on this page.
The Game Table Getaway — pool with optional heating, plus a spa
Three bedrooms, sleeps 8, rated 4.86 across 45 reviews. Private backyard with a pool you can add heating to, a spa and a BBQ grill. The primary suite opens straight onto the pool. There is also an Arcade1Up Infinity Game Table indoors, and community pools, tennis and golf on top of your own yard.
Coachella Casa — palm-lined yard with pool and hot tub
Three bedrooms, sleeps 6, rated 4.75 across 73 reviews. Spanish-style, with a private palm-lined yard, pool and hot tub, plus a fireplace inside for cool evenings.
Honest caveat: the hot tub maxes out at 90 degrees. For some guests that is pleasant on a warm night. If your idea of a hot tub is 102 degrees and steam, this is not the one — look at Sol Haus or the Game Table Getaway instead.
Indio Oasis House — new private pool, plus the club pools
Three bedrooms, sleeps 10, rated 4.88 across 152 reviews, inside Indian Palms Country Club. The private pool is new and heating is optional. Because you are inside the club, you also get community golf, tennis and pools. The house backs onto a greenbelt with a running stream and a small water feature; one guest had coffee in the backyard every morning just to look at it.
Indio Oasis Casita — no private pool
One bedroom, sleeps 2, rated 4.91 across 136 reviews. A quiet, elegant casita inside the same country club, with a queen bed, full bath and kitchenette. No private pool — you have the community pools instead. For two people on a golf or tennis trip, we think that is the right trade. For a group that wants to be in the water all day, it is not.
Should you pay for pool heating in Indio?
Optional heating is an add-on, and the cost depends on the home and the length of your stay. Message us and we will give you the number before you book, not after.
Heat it if any of these are true
- You are visiting between roughly November and March. Air temperatures can be beautiful and the water will still be cold.
- You have young kids or grandparents in the group. Small bodies and older bodies get cold fast, and a cold pool means the pool goes unused.
- The pool is the reason you booked. If you pictured floating around for hours, heat it. Fifteen minutes of a bracing dip is a different holiday.
- You are on a short weekend stay. You do not have days to wait for the sun to do the work.
Ask for heating when you book, not when you arrive. Bringing a pool up to temperature takes the better part of a day or more, so a request made at check-in usually means half your stay is already gone.
Skip it if this is you
- You are here in high summer. From late spring through September, cool water is the amenity. Heating it is like heating a glass of iced tea.
- You mainly want the hot tub. The spa is a separate, much smaller body of water, and it heats on its own regardless of the pool.
- You are honest with yourself about swimming. Plenty of guests barely get in. If your group is a fire-pit-and-BBQ group, put the money elsewhere — our private chef service, for one.
Why is the pool cold after a 95-degree day?
Because desert air is dry and the sky is clear, and both of those things pull heat back out overnight.
A pool holds an enormous amount of water, and a single hot afternoon barely moves its temperature. Meanwhile, low humidity and cloudless nights let Indio shed heat fast — the swing between a hot afternoon and a cool night here is much bigger than most visitors expect. Add evaporation off the surface, which actively cools the water, and you get exactly what our Sol Haus guest described: 95 degrees in the air, and a pool that reads chilly.
Sun on the water helps. It does not do what a heater does.
What is the difference between a private pool and community pool access?
A private pool is in your yard, behind your gate. You choose when to swim, you control the heating, and nobody minds if the kids are loud at four in the afternoon. Sol Haus, the Game Table Getaway, Coachella Casa and Indio Oasis House all have one.
Community pools at Indian Palms Country Club are shared, and the club sets the hours and rules. They are a genuine bonus — a change of scene — and they come with the home at both Indio Oasis House and the Casita. They are not a substitute for your own pool if you have four kids and a long afternoon to fill.
One ask either way: desert backyards carry sound, and neighbours are close. Please keep things gentle after dark.
And one thing we will not pretend about
In July and August, the middle of the day in Indio is genuinely too hot to be outside. Not bring-a-hat hot — sit-indoors hot. Guests who love summer here plan around it: swim early, stay in through the afternoon, and come back out at six when the patio at Sol Haus and the fire pits start to make sense. If that rhythm does not appeal, book us for spring or autumn instead. We would rather tell you now.
