Amenities
We loved our stay at Elissa’s home! We had four adults, three toddlers and a dog. The location to the beach was perfect for our families. Plus there were restaurants and shops we could enjoy on rainy days. There wasn’t dish soap or extra TP, so we did have to buy that. The host dropped off a broom as the one at the house was missing. Lots of toys and games for the kids to play with. The highchair and pack n play were also used. Excellent and quick communication when we had questions. It was a great vacation and the house was beautifully decorated!
The house is beautifully decorated and perfectly fit our needs. We cook a lot and found the kitchen well stocked. It even had everything we needed to do our own seafood boil with fresh seafood we got from a market just minutes down the road. It was toddler friendly too, the pack and play fit nicely in the bunk room.
It was great to be so close to the beautiful beach however the dune you need to climb was a bit steeper than we expected, but my disabled father in law was still able to make it with his walker. Make sure to stay on the path to avoid cactus.
We only had 3 cars (2 small and 1 suv) and it was a bit tight with the shared driveway but we didn’t leave often so it wasn’t much of a problem.
I would recommend bringing bug spray if coming in late August/early September as the mosquitoes were quite aggressive in the front while letting our dog out as well as on the walk to the beach on less windy days. The screened in porch was nice for this though!

Our family loved Avon and Hygge by the Sea! We come to OBX every year, and we wanted to try a more peaceful location this year. This definitely was what we were looking for! Beach wasn’t crowded, house was fully stocked with all the amenities and cookware (we cook almost every meal on vacation so this was super important to us), and the decor and furnishings are top notch! We felt right at home and we’re looking forward to coming back!
Had a wonderful time staying here, had a larger group of people staying here but it never felt too crowded in the house, easy walk to the beach and had plenty to keep us occupied during our trip. Very nice Airbnb!
Love the small touches, like first aide kids and child friendly provisions of a high chair and playpen. The house was decorated super cute and the family loved the outdoor decks. Great house, good location!
